How Good Is The Grease Monkey Strain?

The Grease Monkey strain

As cannabis has been decriminalized, legalized, or otherwise accepted by the general public quality and consistency have definitely improved. But every so often a strain is born that takes even the most experienced smoker by surprise. Grease Monkey strain is like that.

Grease Monkey was developed by the fine folks at Exotic Genetix. They have a pretty good track record for bringing the killer hybrid strains. So you already know that the quality is out of this world.

We’re here to break down all the need-to-know info about this tasty new hybrid.

Meet The Grease Monkey Strain

Grease Monkey strain is an Indica dominant hybrid with pretty high THC. It’s got a high of 30% and a low of 16% across samples. Although it is Indica dominant, some samples recorded a 50/50 mix.

If you enjoy that ‘couchy’ feeling but want to stay sharp mentally, you’ll dig this strain. It’s got potent applications for both medical and recreational usage.

It’s all-star parents, Gorilla Glue #4 and Cookies & Cream, make Grease Monkey a super tasty strain with staying power.

Background

Grease Monkey inherited its powerhouse profile from its well-loved parent strains. Gorilla Glue #4 is a hybrid strain itself, but heavier on the Sativa side. It’s won a ton of awards and is known as one of the world’s strongest strains, not for the faint of heart.

It typically grows tight little buds, just covered in twinkling trichomes. You can see the family resemblance with the buds produced by the Grease Monkey strain.

The strong heady effects of Gorilla Glue #4 are balanced out by Grease Monkey’s other parent strain, Cookies & Cream.

Cookies & Cream is another hybrid, known for being well balanced originating from the Girl Scout Cookies strain. Buds usually score a 50/50 mix across the board, with a THC average of 26%. It was first grown by Exotic Genetix and has also won awards.

Grease Monkey strain is truly the best of both worlds. It’s mild enough for the novice smoker but packs a delicious taste and feel for the more seasoned.

Cultivation

Grease Monkey strain is hearty. It has high disease resistance, standing up to molds, bacteria, or fungus. It can be grown indoors or outdoors and is relatively easy to grow. However, it does require a fair amount of maintenance to get the best tasty buds from it.

It takes eight to nine weeks for the flowers to form if you are growing indoors. You can expect a yield of 18oz per square meter indoors or 21oz per plant if you grow outdoors, and the plants will grow 4-6 feet tall. The best time to harvest outdoors is in October.

You can get the seeds from Exotic Genetix and check out our handy how-to-grow guide for pro tips and tricks for the best yields. We recommend trying to grow the Grease Monkey strain if you already have some experience with growing, it’s a bit tricky if you’re new to the game.

Is the Grease Monkey Strain Good?

So Grease Monkey sure sounds good. It’s got good parents, comes from a reputable lab, and has high THC. But what does it look like, taste like, feel like?

Appearance

In our humble opinion, Grease Monkey has some of the best ‘bag appeal’ out there. It produces tight little nugs that are dense and covered in fuzzy trichomes.

The flowers look like what you would expect from an Indica heavy bud. Long and slender flowers, wrapped with soft green leaves, complemented by orange pistils. As the bud matures you can catch the hues move towards more purple looking nugs.

A true beauty to behold at every step of the growth cycle.

Scent, Flavor, and Effects

Grease Monkey strain is definitely on the funky side as far as smells go. So it’s not the best for a discreet smoke sesh. Grease Monkey strain reviews peg it as ‘skunky, earthy, and super pungent.’

It’s been noted that Grease Monkey has a distinctly unique combination of scents. Once the buds are broken up there is almost a chemical/petrol scent with fruity undertones. The taste is as strong as the scent.

The flavor profile dances between strong diesel and vanilla with fruity undertones. Surprisingly, the smoke isn’t too harsh. Smooth on the inhale with more subtle flavors coming through on the exhale; a delectable blend of spicy and sweet without a cough attack.

Grease Monkey strain is a creeper high. It’s best for enjoyment at the end of your day or if you have a lazy day ahead of you. You’ll get those stuck-to-couch vibes but keep your mental acuity, expect munchies, and euphoria spanning several hours.

If you’re a fan of diesel strains and sweet-scented buds you will enjoy this sensory rollercoaster of a strain.
