Making cannabis stem tea is a simple procedure that only takes a few minutes. First, decide whether or not you wish to pulverize your remaining cannabis stems. Next, fill a saucepan with 3 cups of clean water and bring it to a boil. Begin stirring in the cannabis stems once the water has boiled. Stir for 8-12 minutes continuously. Finally, strain out the plant material and serve as desired.
Things Needed to Make Weed Tea
- 1 gram of cannabis
- 1 tbsp of coconut oil or unsalted butter
- 4 cups of water
- A tea bag and Sweetener
- A strainer, coffee filter, or cheesecloth
- A teapot, mug, and spoon
The Process
Remove the stems and seeds from your cannabis. Combine coconut oil or butter, water, and cannabis in a saucepan over heat. Bring to a boil and simmer for about 10 minutes until all of the solids have dissolved.
After adding your cannabis and teabag, lower the flame and continue simmering for 7-10 minutes. Stirring occasionally will help prevent burning or sticking. A lower temperature setting such as this also helps preserve the beneficial properties of cannabis.
Remove the teapot from the heat, remove the teabag, and carefully strain the tea. If you’re using a metal strainer, make sure it’s a really fine one; otherwise, leaves will be in your cup. Any extra plant material should be discarded.
Add sugar, milk, or lemon to tea according to taste. If you don’t enjoy the flavor of marijuana, consider adding a cinnamon stick or mint leaves to hot tea.
You may make weed tea even easier if you have cannabis-infused butter, oil, or honey, or a cannabis tincture. Simply steep the cannabis extract in hot water with a teabag of your choice, then combine thoroughly.
If you don’t want to waste any of your weed, remember those stems you set aside in the beginning? You can use them to make stem tea and get a bit more out of your cannabis.

The Effects of Cannabis Tea
Cannabis tea, like edibles, must pass through your digestive system before it reaches circulation. Then it’s metabolized in the liver. Depending on the cannabis strain, whether or not you have eaten it recently, and your own endocannabinoid system, you will feel the effects of cannabis tea in 30-90 minutes.
The effect of weed tea is relatively slow, so you might be tempted to drink more. But don’t give in to that temptation! Wait two hours before having another cup. You’ll probably feel the impacts of the weed tea for 7-8 hours total.
